fashion friday

At an art gallery opening last night I saw a woman in a beautiful, summery ikat printed dress and couldn’t help but think of the ikats we use for projects here at the studio. There is no question, fashion and interior design trends influence each other.  Here are some recent places where we’ve noticed the cross over…

Ikats are one example, but graphic geometric prints, florals and plaids are trending in fashion and interior deign ….

Every year Pantone assembles a panel of designers and they select a color palate for the fashion world.

While the ‘it’ color may not always inspire (this year it’s Radiant Orchid, last year it was Emerald Green) many of the other colors influence the pattern and color used in home design. We’ve definitely noticed a cross over of the blues, pastels and especially the grays.

 Color Blocking

Banded drapery panels call to mind the color blocking trend in fashion.

Mid Century Modern

I think we can also thank the show Mad Men for giving this trend some longevity. The clean, vintage aesthetic is very popular in fashion and home design. We also find elements of the style (like the Sputnik pendant) working in more traditional spaces as well, where they add an eclectic twist.

Fashion Friday: Neoprene

We hear Neoprene and we think form-fitting wet suits and laptop sleeves, but the synthetic rubber fabric is trending in women’s fashion. Beyond accessories, we’ve seen it laser-cut, embossed, printed, pleated and color-blocked. Body-con styles to more forgiving ones, everyone can wear the trend.

It is easily dressed up or down, and a perfect piece for the transition from summer to fall. Lengths vary from mini to long but the must-have style is the pencil skirt. We’re seeing […]

What To Wear: Red, White & Blue Edition

RWB Collage

After the long and extremely cold winter we had here in the northeast, it’s almost hard to believe 4th of July is upon us. On the heels of World Cup mania and the approaching July 4th holiday, and feeling a little extra patriotic, we have scoured the web today for some red, white and blue impulse buys.  Join us in […]

Color Crush: Chartreuse

By: Breanne

A hot color popping up all over is Chartreuse; this mix of lime green and yellow green is perfection in my book. From nails to shoes, the citrusy color adds a fun pop to any outfit. The hue is a great addition to a nuetral outfit but it can also be fun to […]

By: Breanne

It’s Friday! And this week we are discussing wristwear. Jewelry is always a big part of an outfit and can really pull it all together. But piling on the right bangles and bracelets isn’t always the easiest thing to do, it can sometimes be a bit of an art. […]

Color Crush: Mint Green

My current color obsession is a soft mint green hue. I love the light pastel color in everything from a cute blouse to a great watch. The color has become popular in these winter months and can be carried into spring as the weather warms up. Check out some of my […]
