At an art gallery opening last night I saw a woman in a beautiful, summery ikat printed dress and couldn’t help but think of the ikats we use for projects here at the studio. There is no question, fashion and interior design trends influence each other. Here are some recent places where we’ve noticed the cross over…

Every year Pantone assembles a panel of designers and they select a color palate for the fashion world.
While the ‘it’ color may not always inspire (this year it’s Radiant Orchid, last year it was Emerald Green) many of the other colors influence the pattern and color used in home design. We’ve definitely noticed a cross over of the blues, pastels and especially the grays.
Banded drapery panels call to mind the color blocking trend in fashion.
Mid Century Modern
I think we can also thank the show Mad Men for giving this trend some longevity. The clean, vintage aesthetic is very popular in fashion and home design. We also find elements of the style (like the Sputnik pendant) working in more traditional spaces as well, where they add an eclectic twist.
