Seeing Double

They aren’t just for kids anymore. We are seeing more and more bedrooms outfitted with twin beds. They offer a versatile solution when space is limited and the design nerd in us loves the repetition and symmetry of decorating in twos! Here’s a little design inspiration that will help you see the potential of the twin:

We stumbled onto this sophisticated twin bedroom at Apartment Therapy. We love the simple color, bedding and accessories. It would be so easy to duplicate this peaceful look:

We love the clever, contemporary canopies that are built into the soffit and the use of the pendant lights over these twins. (And of course, the only thing better than one lovely Hermes throw is a pair of them!):

The room features two bold headboards – we love the shape and the bright ikat fabric. What a great way to add an instant focal point to a simple space:

Headboards are not a necessity. A focal point could be made with a grouping of artwork:

Here the designer used the striping on the walls to define each bed space:

In this room, the use of stripes on the simple canopies gives each bed a sense of personal space but also adds height to the room. We love how the designer used the same stripe on the pillows but mitered the pattern:

This one is chic and pretty; love the mix of blue and green and the simple bedding and accessories:House & Garden UK via www.porterdesigncompany.com

Although the shapes are different, the color unifies this pair of ‘twin’ full-size beds perfectly:

When twins are pushed together they offer the look of a king-sized bed but still preserve personal space for sleepers:

These twins break the traditional side by side arrangement and are placed foot to foot in custom built storage beds.
